Jordan Becker and a team of local artists fired the Large Kiln this month. Join them on Saturday for the unloading to see a huge variety of handmade pots, vessels, sculpture, and tiles. The artists will be unloading throughout the day, but we recommend coming between 12 and 2 pm.

Battenkill Bollywood returns to Carey Hill this October with another pop-up dance mob you won’t want to miss! Together with special guests, the Deerfield Valley Dancing Witches of Southern Vermont, they’ll weave a spell of pure dance joy, performing the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut broom dance plus other magical surprises. Be there Sunday, October 13 at 12pm as they fly in to shake the bacon in a celebration of community and the harvest season!

Salem Art Work’s Festival of Fire celebrates the transformative nature of fire. This annual event is a weekend exploration of the process, production, and performative aspects of making art with fire.

Bring your chairs and blankets- it’s time for our favorite summer event at the top of Cary Hill! We’ll be giving free shuttles up the hill in the school bus, but there’s plenty who walk up too.

The ISC @ SAW Artist Exhibition July 12th has been postponed. We will have an open studio from 2 pm to 4 pm for visitors to stop by Barn 2 to see the artist’s work and process. Once the pieces are complete and installed, we will have a gathering to celebrate the completion of the work. Date tba.
The Solar Kitchen Unit - Saturday July 13th - From 12pm Our best machines are made of sunshine. The Solar Kitchen Unit is an autonomous, modular kitchen based on the work of Maria Telkes, a Hungarian engineer (1900-1995) who pioneered research in solar energy. Among her many inventions, she designed reproducible, inexpensive solar ovens that have been largely forgotten in archives along with Tekles’ legacy. Join us Saturday, July 13th at Salem Art Works after the Harder Barter to cook together, highlighting Tekles’ work and local produce. Find us outside, on top of a hill, soaking up the sun.
“We invite you to bring any handheld, tradeable items to barter with fellow participants! Bring some small pieces of art, tools, raw materials, or swag, you can also get creative with an “IOU” ie. help with yard work or cooking a meal. The purpose of this event is to bring artists of all backgrounds and career stages together equally to have a go at self-promotion, negotiation, valuing goods, networking, and taking chances! Most importantly we want to have fun! One folk's patch is another folk's treasure. Come one, come all, come barter!”

Artist: Margaret Jacobs, Akwesasne Mohawk, is a metalsmith known for her steel sculpture and powder-coated jewelry. Her work explores the tension and harmony between natural and man-made, often intermingling unexpected and contradicting materials to explore those relationships. The show will be on view until Monday June 15th. This weekend is your last chance to stop by and check it out!
