The Blacksmith Shop is located at the end of Vincent Lane on the grounds of Salem Art Works. Classes are held for beginner and intermediate students looking to acquire blacksmithing skills and techniques. The Blacksmith Shop can be rented at an hourly rate, with an option for assistance.

Studio Rental

Rental Fee

The entire shop is available to rent for groups at the rate of $600 per day.

Individual work stations are available for rent at the rate of $20 per hour with a four hour minimum, or $100/day, plus consumables and materials. Rental includes coal/propane forge, anvils, and basic hand tools. Additional studio equipment includes welders, chop saw, and belt grinder. Power hammers are available for an additional fee of $10 per hour.

Additionally, shop renters are responsible for cost of consumables, materials, and instruction.

Materials

We recommend shop renters either bring materials or contact us for assistance ordering materials prior to arrival.

Assistance Fee

$25 per hour for one-on-one assistant
$50 per hour for one-on-one instruction

Lodging

SAW offers onsite camping, arthouse (cabins), and private indoor rooms with shared bathrooms for an additional fee. There are also local accommodations. Please contact us for assistance.
