Successful applicants are in the early stages of their artistic development and must demonstrate a clear commitment to building their artistic career. Visual artists working in any medium, as well as writers, choreographers, musicians, and performers, may apply.

The Young Artist program is six weeks; June and July or August and September. Young Artists participate in a work exchange which averages 30 hours a week to support the daily operations of SAW. Tasks include outdoor physical labor, maintaining the grounds, cleaning, cooking, events, and special projects.
